We are the current members of the Romanian National Curling Team: a student in sports management, a philosopher, an archaeologist, a mathematician and an oenologist. Although coming from various walks of life, we make a homogeneous group, sharing first of all the passion for curling; last but not least, our team’s trademark is every curler having a beard.
HOW WE GOT HERE:
The beginnings of curling in Romania are connected with the efforts of a handful of people featuring multiple qualities: the curiosity of learning something totally new, the team spirit, the aspiration to participate in the Olympics (obviously inspired by the bobsled team of Jamaica), and a lot of sense of humor (in Romanian, CURLING literally means A** LICK).
Ever since we started, the destiny of the Romanian curling has been highly dependent on the curlers’ personal piggy-banks, as we needed to purchase fairly expensive equipment and train abroad on proper ice arenas.
WHAT WE’RE AIMING AT:
Our team wants to be a worthy participant in the European Curling Championship in 2016. Our project involves, aside from the Championship in Ljubljana, attending a training session in Prague. Everything implies travel fares, accommodation, paying for a coach and the arena fees, buying some pieces of equipment. The anticipated budget is € 5000.
